Digital Video Camera Options

For optimum results select a mid range camera with a hard disk or chip that you can connect via USB. Do not select a device which uses tape as the storage medium.

The size of files created by a high definition camera will be extremely large and will limit the number of studies you can save. The added quality is typically of not significant value to warrant the storage requirements.

Sony uses their own proprietary video format that you may have to convert so please check the video compatibility before purchasing.

Panasonic, Canon, and JVC models are suggested however you need to verify that the specific model in question  will store in one of the following formats: AVI, WMV, MPG, MPEG. WMV is the best format size-wise.

If the salesperson can not advise the exact saved file format please be aware that there are many "flavors" of each format. You may wish to insure the camera you choose can be returned or exchanged if the format is not compatible with the Timer Pro.

Smartphone and Pocket PC PDA Recommendations

Timer Pro will run on Android Smartphones and Android Tablets - version 2.2 or later with an SD card. The most popular devices are the Samsung phones and the Samsung Galaxy tablets.

If you do not have an Android phone and do not want to enter into a phone contract, we recommend the Samsung Galaxy Player 5 (WiFi device).

This is a highly rated 6 oz. device has a 2500 mAh battery  - over twice the average phone battery capacity. The screen size is a perfect for time study. You can also use the device to take and watch videos in the Video Time Study module.

Palm Based PDA Support **Discontinued**

As of July 2008 we no longer support Timer Pro on Palm operating system PDA devices. This decision was made due to Palm’s declining market share, smaller screens, less powerful processors. short battery life, cumbersome (Hot Sync) data transfer procedure and constant minor changes to the Palm operating system.

These factors have for some time forced us to program around these limitations leading to a far lower quality time study experience compared to that available from Timer Pro on the Pocket PC. All development resources will now be focused exclusively on the Pocket PC platform.
